Exercise.

Here at Tolly farm, we appreciate the value of exercise to your pet, and make sure they have plenty of time to run, play and strech their limbs whilst you are away. Exercising is supervised to ensure animals socialise and to provide a safe, enjoyable environment for your pet.

Cats

Cats are allowed exercise within the indoor cat runs during cage cleaning time as individuals or family groups only. We do not run cats from different family groups together. If your cat does not feel adventurous we do not insist that they leave their cage for exercise, as cats are able to exercise isometrically through stretching, and therefore do not need to cover the ground like dogs do.

Dogs

Dogs are exercised twice daily, morning and night, for a minimum period of 30 minutes each time, giving a total exercise time of at least 1 hour per day.

Please note we do run dogs together socially under supervision. If you have any concerns please let us know and we can exercise your dog on it's own.

Dogs who are confident in our care and have been approved by their owners can be exercised loose over our 10 acres of paddocks. This gives the dogs a chance to chase the local rabbit population, and cool off with a dip in the creek.

For an additional fee, we can take your dog to the Manawatu river to swim. Dogs are restrained in a harness and are attached to the walker by a long rope for safety, the pursuit of chasing sticks is barely interrupted.
